What’s new
The park keeps growing. Here’s what’s changed lately.
A ninth truck rolls in: Indian, with a tray of nine tins that is about finding the right one rather than timing a bar. The dessert van stops being one van — pick ice cream, donuts, crêpes, churros, bubble waffles or a patisserie. And the act on your stage is yours to choose rather than whatever your last upgrade handed you. The Asian truck is the Thai truck now.
- Indian, the ninth cuisine — and the Thali Tray to cook it. Nine tins instead of six, re-laid between every ticket, and nothing on the tray is a trap. You just have to find the right one before the queue notices.
- Six dessert vans where there was one: Ice Cream Van, Donut Bar, Crêpe Griddle, Churro Cart, Bubble Waffle and Patisserie — each of them named at all seven sizes, from a trike to a palace.
- Five acts to pick between — a busker, a street circus, a DJ, a live band or a main stage — and every one of them climbs the whole ladder, from a pitch on the corner to an amphitheatre.
- Six Indian recipes in the test kitchen, up to a signature biryani.
- Whichever van or act you choose costs and earns exactly what the same size of any other one does, so preferring the quiet act is a taste and never a handicap.
- Upgrading your entertainment used to take away the act you had chosen — a DJ booth became a live band, a live band became a concert stage, and anyone who liked the busker had to stay at the smallest size forever to keep it. The act you pick is now the act you keep, all the way up.
- Levelling up said nothing had arrived on the levels that open a dessert van or an act. It names them now, the way it already named a new town or a new drink.
- The front page was still selling eight cuisines, with the truck labelled Asian and no Indian truck on it at all, and the test-kitchen card still counted forty-seven recipes. There are nine cuisines and fifty-three recipes.
